Dan M. Dean, born on April 3rd, 1936, in Crestwood, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at Aultman Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He had a remarkable life, marked by a profound dedication to both his career and his family.
He cultivated a strong work ethic throughout his 49-year tenure with US Ceramic Tile, where he held the esteemed position of supervisor. He later transitioned his role and began working at Baker Florist for five years, and later at Cross Truck Equipment in Canton. Remarkably, Dan continued to contribute to the workforce even at the age of 87.
A proud graduate of Mineral City High School, Dan was not only devoted to his work but also deeply invested in his community and family. He was an active member of NewPointe Community Church, where his presence was consistently felt each Sunday.
Dan was known for his kind-hearted nature, which drew his family close to him. His home served as a gathering place for family members, a hub filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. He was a perfectionist, especially when it came to his yard, which he took great pride in maintaining. Dan’s love for music was also significant in his life; he played several instruments, with the guitar being his favorite, and was a talented singer in a band.
In his leisure time, Dan found joy in spending moments with his loved ones, especially attending his grandchildren’s activities. His passions extended beyond family; he was a licensed pilot and flew a Mooney 201 aircraft, a skill that he learned from his twin brother, who preceded him in death. Dan’s enthusiasm for planes and flying was a testament to his adventurous spirit.
As we remember Dan Dean, we celebrate a life well-lived—a man who cherished his family, community, and work. His legacy will continue through those who were fortunate enough to know him and love him.
On January 27, 1956, he married Marjorie (Brick) Dean. They would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this coming January. He will also be sadly missed by his children; Kay Rentsch of Dover, Rhonda Vincent of Louisiana, Dale (Cheryl) Dean of Cincinnati, Cinda (James) Burgess of Dover, Sheila (Myron) Steffey of Akron, Sherry (Jeff) McAfee of Somerdale, 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George W. and Ddy Reid Dean, he was preceded in death by six sisters, one brother, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
In honoring Dan’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A memorial gathering will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center 831 Boulevard, Dover, Ohio, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm.
