The Tuscarawas County Senior Center is one of 50 organizations across the country to participate in an effort to educate older adults about technology.

Senior Center Social Services Director Marley Miller says this is possible through the leadership at the National Council on Aging and AT&T.

“Anybody 50 and over can join the program, any of the educational series. You can do it here, at the Senior Center, or the Dover Public Library.”

November 9th, from 9am to noon at the library, will be the first workshop, offering assistance with smartphones.

The next in-person event will be at the senior center, The ABC’s of Basic Technology, on November 19th, from noon to 1pm. Seat reservations are needed by November 11th.

Miller says the overall goal is to give older adults access to knowledge and resources so they can stay connected, informed, and safe when using technology.

“The digital literacy program will provide education on internet basics, email basics, cyber security, computers and mobile devices. That one includes IOS and Android devices.”

A total of four workshop will be held at the Senior Center, and individuals are encouraged to check their or Dover Library’s website or call either location for more details.
