Cody Howard Scott, 34, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Born March 26, 1990 in Dover, Ohio, he was a son of Cynthia K. “Cindy” (Lorenz) Scott of New Philadelphia and the late James Howard Scott.
Cody will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his mother, Cindy; maternal grandmother, Mary “Honey” Myers; longtime companion, Chelsie Stingel; brothers, Bradley Scott and Brandon (Cicely) Scott; nephew, Bryson Scott; niece, Cameryn Scott; a dear friend of the family, Richard Moran; and a large extended family including his aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David Myers, and paternal grandparents, Roy “Jim” and Mary Scott.
A 2009 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Cody was a lifelong resident. He loved outdoor pursuits, especially fishing, kayaking, off-roading in his truck, and riding his mini-motorcycle. He also had a great compassion for animals and truly loved all of the dogs he welcomed into his family – Jack, Taco, and Leroy who went before him, and Mary Jane and Frank who survive.
Cremation is planned without a public visitation, and his family plan to celebrate his life privately. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions honoring Cody’s memory may be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd N.E., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
