The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District is continuing to develop and expand outdoor recreation, and they have turned their focus to Tappan Lake.

They have announced the upcoming installation of a tack for biking, skateboarding, rollerblading, and scootering.

Chief of Recreation Pete Novotny says this amenity will be for all skill levels.

“Going to go by our beach and that’s what’s called a pump track and it’s for kids with their bikes to go up and down hills and under tunnels. There’s just going to be a lot of laughter that takes place on that.”

Other amenities are also planned to further enhance Tappan’s outdoor space near the newly renovated Welcome Center.

“We’re going to have a nature-based playground with basketball courts and pickle ball courts, and a community fire pits. Tied to our trail system, we are going to create a pollinator plot of wildflowers and we’re going to have trails that lead through it.”

MWCD is expecting to host a ribbon cutting ceremony in spring 2025.
