Uhrichsville administration says positive things are happening in the city and requested council to look at a few ordinances.

Mayor Jim Zucal thanked voters for supporting the park levy and said plans will install new trees and revamp the pavilions.

He mentioned local business support letters for a road improvement project.

“We’re on the verge of a really, really big deal out there. Cade [Watkins] and I have been working with Ohio Jobs and Commerce. There’s an existing corridor for US 36 but we want to improve Wardell Street, Trenton Avenue, Jaycee Drive. My vision is and I’ve shared this with the folks in Columbus, is eventually the exit on 36 and that will be Novelis Way.”

Zucal once again asked for a committee to look at a garbage ordinance.

“I’d like to create a hidden hopper ordinance where we look at commercial hoppers and residential. Residential isn’t in front of the house. It has to be put in an area that’s not quit so visible. We have some health issues with some of the bigger hoppers in town. That needs looked at by committee.”

Meanwhile, Councilman Steve Patterson asked for the law director to write-up a new landlord ordinance that would not be questioned.

“I believe that we need, as a council, bring a motion forward to have our law director to write up an ordinance that is enforceable and that’s going to cover the city of Uhrichsville.”

His motion was unanimously approved.

As part of the service director’s report, Cade Watkins noted that Bellstores, at McCauley Drive, is expected to open around Thanksgiving and the city will focus on junk vehicles.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 25th, at 7pm, due to the holiday.
