Strasburg school leaders are sharing their ideas for what they hope to have in phase II of the district’s one campus one community vision.
Phase one included construction of the multi-purpose athletic complex.
Superintendent Vince Lindsey showed potential phase ii designs during a community conversation over the weekend. Those plans include putting in baseball and softball fields with a clubhouse on mostly-district-owned land north of the schools.
Lindsey says that would move the band’s practice field to the south of the schools. The plan also included keeping the football stadium and track at Franklin Park, but with renovations.
The next step would be for the school board to consider whether to place a 4-mill bond issue on the spring ballot to collect 10 million dollars over 30 years to fund all of this.
That bond issue would cost owners of a 100-thousand dollar home about 11 a month, or 136 dollars annually. The bond issue that residents are paying for the school building comes off the books in 2031.
