Douglas L. Burrier, age 74, of Sherrodsville, Ohio, died early Thursday morning, November 21, 2024, in the Hennis Care Center at Bolivar.
He was born September 25, 1950, in Dover, Ohio and was the son of the late Walter Henry and Lillian Esther (Edwards) Burrier.
Doug retired in 2014 from a 40-year career serving as a Deputy Sheriff for the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office. He also enthusiastically participated in the sheriff department’s mounted unit. He was a 1968 graduate of Tuscarawas Valley High School. He favored traveling, particularly in the western part of the country, and also enjoyed camping. Doug was quite interested in horseback riding and was fond of his horse “Buck”. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Roberta D. “Bobbie” (Germann) Burrier, whom he married May 26, 1985, a daughter, Mrs. Grace (Kevin) Gallagher of Canton, OH, his two grandchildren Molly Gallagher and Kaleb Gallagher, both of Canton, his twin sister, Mrs. Debra (Alan) Corwin of Nokomis, FL, and a brother, Daniel (Connie) Burrier of Dover, OH, and he is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M., Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Somerdale Maranatha Bible Church, located at 6097 State Route 212 N.E. in Somerdale with Pastor Richard Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in the Holmes Church Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:30 P.M. in the church.
