Ohio’s weeklong deer gun hunting season begins Monday, Dec. 2nd.
An additional deer gun weekend follows on Dec. 21-22, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
Hunters harvested over 95,000 deer during all 2023 gun seasons. Meanwhile, this fall, hunters ages 17 and younger checked more than 10,000 white-tailed deer during Ohio’s youth gun season held in November.
During all gun seasons, all hunters, regardless of implement, are required to wear hunter orange clothing. As a reminder, if going onto someone’s property to hunt or follow a deer, written permission is required.
Legal hunting implements during the gun seasons include shotguns, straight-walled cartridge rifles, muzzleloaders, handguns, and archery equipment.
