Albert “Abe” A. Shott, 72, of New Philadelphia died unexpectedly early Monday morning of December 2, 2024.
A lifelong resident of the area, Abe was born at Union Hospital in Dover to the late John A. and Hallie M. (Everett) Shott. He graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1970 and soon became an installation technician for various cable companies in the area. After thirty plus years, Abe retired from Spectrum.
Outside of work, he liked to purchase old cars, golfcarts, and go carts, spend time fixing and restoring each one and then reselling when the work was complete. He also liked spending time at the Tusky V.F.W. and was a former member of the New Philadelphia Elks and Moose.
Surviving family members include Abe’s wife of thirty years, whom he married on September 25, 1993, Sharon (Anderson) Shott of the home, three stepdaughters: Tina Blankenship (companion Amos Mullet) of Strasburg, Tracey (Mike) Weaver of Dover, and Stacey Howell (companion David J. Avon) of Tuscarawas; grandchildren: Chelsie (Tom) Cuenot, Chantel Blankenship, William Frank (Philicia) Devore III, Brittany Devore (companion Blake Cole), and Douglas James Weaver; great-grandchildren: Adeline and Amelia Gribble, Declan Miles, Ellina and Zaven Cole; siblings John Shott, Salley (Jim) Wherley, and Debra (Ron) Lesjak.
Along with his parents, Abe is preceded by a sister-in-law Dottie Shott.
Following his wishes, no public services will be held.
