Dover officials have taken time to remember a longtime civic leader for his involvement throughout the community.

Former council president Jerry Warner died last week at the age of 86.

Warner founded the city’s shade tree commission and the Dover police auxiliary. And he served as Dover’s electrical inspector.

In addition, warner had been a volunteer firefighter and a Tuscarawas county sheriff’s reserves lieutenant.

Private services were being planned with the Toland Herzig funeral home handling arrangements.
