The local Fraternal Order of Police chapter is playing Santa again this holiday season.
Members went shopping over the weekend for the 15 or so families participating in this year’s Christmas with a Cop Program.
Co-chair Bob Everett says they buy gifts for each child in the family, purchasing needed items like clothing and shoes first – then toys, games, and other wants.
Donations support the program and are accepted year-round at area police stations and by mail to PO Box 2 in Dover.
Everett says it typically costs between 7 and 8-thousand dollars but this year’s total could be significantly higher with the inflated prices and more kids participating.
Gifts will be delivered the Saturday before Christmas in a caravan of police cruisers.
