David Lee Harmon, 74, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in Ohio’s Hospice Truman House on December 6, 2024, following a lengthy period of declining health.
Born in Dover on June 12, 1950, he was the son of the late Robert Gene and Marjorie Louise (Carling) Harmon.
After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1968, Dave worked for Davy Tree Service located in Kent, Ohio and then spent the remainder of his professional career at The Timken Co. where he served as a machinist, retiring in 2004.
Dave’s life revolved around his family, whether they were participating in Derby Day festivities, cheering on the Buckeyes, or just enjoying simple, daily activities together. Because Dave and Penny lived in New Philadelphia, their grandchildren, Leah and Jaxon, had the blessing of growing up with their grandparents who were involved in their daily lives.
Additionally, Dave was an avid golfer and fisherman. He also spent much of his time buying, enjoying and selling antiques including marbles, coins and fishing lures.
For 52 years, Dave journeyed through life with his wife, Amelia M. “Penny” Leydecker Harmon. Together, they were the proud parents of Chris (Denise) Harmon. Dave was also the brother of Barbara Jo Kaplan.
No public services are scheduled at this time.
