A grand jury will now consider formal charges against the suspect in last week’s speedway gas station robbery where the clerk was attacked.
39-year-old john a. McNutt waived his preliminary hearing in New Philadelphia Municipal Court Wednesday on charges in a criminal complaint including attempted murder and aggravated robbery. McNutt was accused of using a hammer in the December 9th incident that left the clerk with head injuries.
Dover safety director Bob Everett provided an update on the clerk at this week’s city council meeting, saying that she is still recovering, and he wishes her the best.
Everett also took time to commend all of the involved the officers, both from Dover and New Philadelphia for having the suspect in custody within a few hours of fleeing the gas station
McNutt remains in the county jail, with his bond at 500-thousand dollars.
