A caravan of police cruisers traveled from town-to-town Saturday delivering Christmas gifts.

Around a dozen law enforcement vehicles packed with presents left the New Philadelphia police station just after 9 am to brighten the holidays for 15 local families.

Dover and New Phila police, the sheriff’s office, highway patrol and other local law enforcement agencies participated in Christmas with a Cop convoy that co-chair Bob Everett says was the biggest yet.

Each year, the local fop chapter asks teachers to nominate deserving students. Members then get a wish list for every child in the household and buy gifts to deliver ahead of the holiday.

MWCD ranger supervisor Luke Pace was excited to participate in Saturday’s deliveries after having to miss the previous ones because of scheduling conflicts.

Forty kids received presents, which Everett says is most in recent years. Some kids were in awe when they stepped outside to see all the cruisers lined up along the street with their lights flashing.

Donations to support the program are accepted year-round. Checks made payable to FOP Tuscora lodge # 4 with Christmas in the Cop written on the memo line can be dropped off at any local law enforcement agency or mailed to PO Box 2 in Dover.
