Darlene Bean, age 77, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in her home following a period of declining health.
Born on January 28, 1947, Darlene was a daughter of the late Joseph and Doris Ann (Navin) Chartrand.
Darlene worked at Genie Garage door for over 20 years before her retirement. In the years since she has retired, she has stayed very active in volunteer work. She volunteered with the Area Agency on Aging, and was a senior companion for Coad Ohio.
Additionally, Darlene was an animal lover. She was always known to find help for a hurt animal or for making sure that an abused animal was cared for properly.
She lived her life as a stubbornly independent person; however, family was key to her life. Darlene is survived by her children, Laurie (Spence) Odenbach, David (Bethany) Bean, and Scott Bean; grandchildren, Madison Bean, Ethan Lanzer, Jessalyn (Devin) Miller, Breanna Lanzer, Alexis Bean, Araiya Hardy, Trevor Bean, and Oscar Snyder; great-grandchildren, Waylin, June, Luke, and Rhett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Ann Bean; and brother, Wesley Chartrand.
The family will greet guests on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Darlene’s life will begin at 12:00 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. An inurnment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Dover.
