A crowd turned out at the Tuscarawas County courthouse Monday morning to welcome our newest state lawmaker.
Jodi salvo appeared before Judge Adam Wilgus and a courtroom packed with supporters for her swearing-in as 51st District State Representative.
The former Empower Tusc coordinator and Ohio Guidestone director of substance use prevention services was grateful for the support and the opportunity before her.
“My commitment to you is very simple, I will serve with everything I have. I will listen, I will learn, and I will act in the best interest of our communities. I can’t do this alone and I ask for your prayers and continued support, and I promise to work tirelessly for the people of District 51.”
State senator Al Landis joined Salvo on the campaign trail and looks forward to working alongside her in Columbus.
Empower Tusc chairman and former state rep Kerry Metzger led the campaign to elect Salvo and has the utmost confidence in her abilities.
Salvo unseated outgoing 51st district state rep Brett Hillyer in the republican primary. She then secured the seat in November, defeating the democrat opponent with more than 70 percent of the votes.
