City officials are planning more projects for the coming year than ever before.

Mayor Shane Gunnoe says the budget for capital improvements in 2025 will be the biggest in Dover’s history.

At close to $10 million, that will be about twice as much as a normal year. In addition to infrastructure work around the new Schaeffler manufacturing facility, 2025 projects include replacing streetlights, upgrades to safety forces facilities related to City Hall’s move to the former First Federal Bank building, new pickleball courts and paving.

Gunnoe says a number of the projects are at least partially grant-funded – such as the work around Schaeffler and pickleball courts.

Dover City Council approved the temporary appropriations for 2025, which project a total budget of about $75.7 million.
