The Claymont Athletic Program is in the early stages of establishing a hall of fame.
Superintendent Brian Rentsch says they want to publicly recognize outstanding past athletes, teams, and program supporters beginning in 2026.
Claymont’s athletic council committee is overseeing the effort and intends to seek nominations from the community. Rentsch says donations will also be accepted for an interactive video board to showcase the honorees.
Committee member Martha Campbell sees the board serving dual purposes by also featuring Claymont’s all-Ohioans since they’re running out of room to display their photos at the high school).
To be eligible for the hall of fame, athletes must have graduated from Claymont at least five years ago, lettered twice in at least one sport, and achieved regional or statewide honors. Rentsch expects to begin taking nominations for the inaugural class sometime in the spring.
