High school students from across the county will get the chance to play prosecutors, defense attorneys and courtroom witnesses.

This is for this Friday’s all-day mock trial competition at the Tuscarawas County Court House.

Probate and Juvenile Court Judge Adam Wilgus says they will use five courtrooms for the district-level event, with at least two teams advancing to regionals.

Each team is given the same case, parameters and storyline they must follow. A panel of judges determines the winners.

There will be 10 teams from Claymont, Dover, Garaway, New Philadelphia, Steubenville and Tuscarawas Central Catholic.

The competition starts at 9 a.m., and the public is welcome to watch. Award presentations will take place after 3 p.m.
