The Dover – New Philadelphia Salvation Army will have to come up with some additional funds to continue providing all of its usual services in 2025.

Captain Andrew Behr says that’s because their annual red kettle campaign only generated just over half of the 100-thousand dollar goal this past holiday season.

He says the Salvation Army could now possibly be looking at another campaign for this spring or early summer.

Behr believes the shortfall can be blamed on a few factors: fewer shopping days between thanksgiving and Christmas, the economy, and not having enough bell ringers – both paid and volunteer.

Behr says they also weren’t able to get a sponsor for a match day this past season, which has been a big boost to the campaign in previous years.
