Many local schools are commending the time and effort board members contribute to their individual districts.

January is School Board Recognition Month and for 2025, it’s a superhero theme.

During their first meeting, Tuscarawas Valley Local Superintendent Derek Varansky thanked each board member for their time.

“The dedication, commitment, and vision of our school board members shape the future of our schools and our students. Their focus is always on helping our students be successful in their future endeavors. Celebrating school board recognition month is one way to say thanks for all they do.”

At the Claymont meeting, Superintendent Brian Rentsch handed out recognition certificates.

“Superhero board members. The Ohio School Board Association has sent a certificate of appreciation for your participation and your service has board members.”

Meanwhile, New Philadelphia Superintendent Amy Wentworth acknowledged her district board members.

“For their hard work and their leadership. They definitely play a very crucial role in the lives of all of our Quakers. I am very thankful to serve with a school board who consistently makes decisions by using the New Philadelphia City School District mission statement as guidance principals.”

The recognition month aims to educate the public about the important role a board of education plays in the community and school district.
