The Friends of the Homeless organization is seeking additional donations and pledges for Jack’s House of Hope.
Campaign Co-chair Matt Ritzert was saying last week that they raised about 3.4-million-dollars toward the more than 5-million-dollar addition to the existing homeless shelter in downtown New Philadelphia.
“We’re really excited about it but it’s a big project. Construction has just gotten underway with the digging of some footers and pouring of a little bit of concrete. It’ll take about a year to get the project built.”
Once complete, the 20-thousand-square-foot facility will be able to house 14 men, 13 women, and four families at any given time.
“It’ll have a chapel, a larger dining room. It will have more community space. It will have more space to offer services.”
