Police say a drunk driver led troopers on a chaotic high-speed chase into Dover early Saturday morning, striking another vehicle, a tree and a house and losing a tire before escaping on foot.

It started on I-77 around 1:30 a.m. and ended about five miles into town on Dover Zoar Road when the suspect fled the vehicle on foot.

State Highway Patrol Sergeant Clinton Armstrong said the pursuit reached speeds near 100 miles per hour before troopers called it off as it entered east side neighborhoods.

According to Dover police reports, they located the suspect at his East Front Street home around 5:15 a.m. on Saturday after a caller reported he was there, intoxicated and arguing. He was detained for questioning, and police forwarded their report to the Tuscarawas County prosecutor’s office.

According to the report, the man had been sent home from work in Canton Friday night because he was intoxicated.
