Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has been touting highlights of the biennial state budget he introduced this week, with a focus on families, communities, and jobs.

DeWine says the budget he sent to the legislature involves continued child care support for working parents.  The budget also includes funds to establish the Ohio principal apprenticeship program.

The proposal invests 34 million dollars to fund recommendations from the Ohio school bus safety working group that formed last year

The Governor says his budget would also invest resources to make Ohio a national leader in addressing the mental health crisis while expanding partnerships with healthcare providers, law enforcement and judges.

DeWine adds the budget proposes adjusting the sports gaming tax to create the ‘sports facilities construction and sports education fund’

DeWine was in Zanesville promoting several priorities in his budget and will continue doing so around the state.

The two-year budget will make its way through the legislature for hearings and changes over the coming months and must be signed by the end of June.
