Joseph D. “Joe” Miller, age 76, of Strasburg, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, in Aultman Hospital, Canton.
Joe was born on December 27, 1948, in Mount Eaton. He was the son of the late Dennis E. and Emma D. (Hershberger) Miller. Joe attended school in Mount Eaton and worked as a truck driver for many years. He was also employed by J.J. Mast Trucking, Millersburg, as a dispatcher, Wenger Pipeline Construction, Dalton, and served as a reserve deputy for the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office
Joe was a member of NewPointe Community Church in Dover, where he was a faithful volunteer – mowing grass, setting up chairs and doing whatever needed done. He was friendly and generous. In years past, Joe enjoyed racing at both Midvale and Mansfield Speedways as well as working in the pit crew.
He is survived by his son and daughter, Travis (Kimi Riley) Miller of Strasburg, and JoEllen (Jeremy) Sanders of New Philadelphia; his grandson, Duncan Sanders; his sisters and brother, Anna (Robert) Wincek, Fannie (Andy) Yoder, Elmer (Mary) Miller and Edna (Menno) Miller; his nieces and nephews; and his many friends.
Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, Lovina, Lena, Mary, Daniel and Levi.
Cremation is under the care and direction of Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Family and friends are invited to call, pay their respects and visit with the family at Toland-Herzig in Strasburg, 140 S. Bodmer Ave., on Saturday, February 15, 12 – 3 p.m.
