He and his wife spent many happy times together as members of the Star Promenaders Square Dance Club where he had served as the Club Caller. During his younger years, he was the vocalist and bass player for the former Marv Herbert Dance Band.
On August 21, 1949, Dick married the former Judith Lee Barr with whom he enjoyed nearly 75 years of marriage until her passing on January 23, 2024. They were blessed with two daughters, Cindi (Bob, deceased) Martin and Cathie (Jim) Foutz; four grandchildren, Brian (Jeri) Foutz, Becka (Kevin) Hicks, Jesse (Kristi) Foutz, and Andy (Molly) Martin; eleven great-grandchildren, Jacob and Spencer Foutz, Brianna (Chandler) Guyton, Wesley and Kendal Foutz, Rachel (Myles) Pittman, Paige Hicks, Skylar and Walker Martin, and Ryan Young who survive him and Derek Foutz who preceded him in death; and a great-great-grandson expected this summer.
