The special lighting at the Tuscarawas County Courthouse this weekend honors the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s famous ride.

On Friday and Saturday, the courthouse will be dark except for two lights reminiscent of the two lanterns that shone in the old north church in Boston, Massachusetts on April 18, 1775, to let the minutemen know the British were coming.

Tuscarawas County Commissioner Kristen Zemis says it not only honors Paul Revere’s ride, but it also brings attention to a host of events and activities planned to celebrate America’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.

Zemis says the county’s 250th anniversary committee will announce more upcoming events soon. Already we know that Tuscora Park, Historic Zoar Village and the Ernest Warther Museum are featured on Ohio’s America 250 Creativity Trail.
