Dover’s mayor, safety director, law director, and police chief are forming a committee to crack down on scooter riders who don’t obey traffic laws.

Safety Director Bob Everett says he and other have witnessed scooter riders flying around town, ignoring stop signs and not wearing helmets.

“Frankly, before something happens, we feel we need to investigate our options, find out what we can as far as state revised code and the operation of these.”

Meanwhile, the city purchased poles and flashing light to install at a crosswalk on North Wooster Avenue at 6th Street, a couple blocks east of Dover High School and the library.

Everett says vehicle must stop and allow pedestrians to cross when those light are flashing.
