A $1,500 grant from the Tuscarawas Arts Partnership allowed the Rainbow Connection to hire an artist to create a wall mural.
The goal, says Executive Director Perci Garner, is to welcome applicants into a bright, comfortable space. The design features people interconnected and representing people like a doctor, mother, firefighter, teacher, someone in a wheelchair, and someone with a hearing aid.
“Part of the design was to put each school that we support here in Tuscarawas County to put inside the apples, so we’ve got the school logos in there. You just see kind of the mood they create with different paintings and art and the colors, and we just felt like it was time for a face lift and we’re just excited in how it turned out.”
Garner adds there is also the phrase “Here to Help” that fits the Rainbow Connection’s mission.
“People in Tuscarawas County like to work and earn their way in society but we kind of frame it every once in a while, someone needs assistance and we’re here to help you so then you can continue to help others, and we try to set that mood when they come in.”
The mural was completed by Dover artist Hannah Johnson.
