Big Z Sports, which includes the WTUZ and WJER Sports department, was recently recognized by the OHSAA and the East District Athletic Board with the 2025 Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Media Service Award.
Board member and Strasburg Athletic Director Gary Spinell Big Z Sports goes above and beyond in covering local high school sports.
“They’re great at being at many places. Not just the big games. Their tournament coverage is just fantastic, their season coverage is fantastic, and we’re just really glad to have them as a partner.”
WTUZ Big Z Sports Director Adam Ciereszewski says it’s a team effort.
“It means a lot to the entire team at Big Z Sports for the work and dedication that they put into this. There’s a lot of hours spent, there’s a lot of prep work that’s done, and to be recognized by the East District for something like this, it means a lot to each and every one that’s involved.”
However, Ciereszewski prefers the focus be on the kids.
“Any chance we get to promote the local athletes in the area. Big Z Sports is comprised of covering about 16 area schools and we do our best to do as much for those schools as we can, but first and foremost, none of this is possible at all without the sponsor support that we’ve had for many, many years.”
