During a May ceremony, emergency medical services were recognized for courage and dedication for action conducted during difficult circumstances.

Among them was Arrowhead Joint Fire District receiving an Ohio EMS Stars award.

An Ohio Department of Public Safety video presentation detailed how responders with Arrowhead and Tri-County Joint Ambulance were called to a September 2024 crash involving a motorcycle. The rider, Tyler Crawford, suffered from facial fractures and life-threatening bleeding.

“Because of increased difficult and paramedics performed rapid sequence innovation a critical procedure that likely prevented development of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest.”

Crawford was ultimately taken by med-flight.

“To a level 1 trauma center. The coordinated care…played a vital role in stabilizing this patient.”

At the time of the crash, the Ohio State Highway Patrol released that Crawford rear-ended a vehicle on US 36 and was not wearing a helmet.
