The developers of the 30-home Crimson Cove subdivision in Dover have set their sights on another piece of land where they could build a development twice as big.

Lawver Built LLC is proposing to annex 33 acres of land into the city to build a housing development. The property is north of the Dover Burial Park cemetery along St. Peters Church Road in Dover Township. Mayor Shane Gunnoe says plans are preliminary.

Lawver is presently building homes in the 15-acre Crimson Cove subdivision about two miles south of the newly proposed development. Gunnoe says there is a housing shortage in Tuscarawas County, even before the Schaeffler Group adds 450 jobs with a new manufacturing facility, also on Dover’s north side.

Gunnoe says the city is prepared to extend utilities to Lawver’s proposed housing development, and several surrounding businesses have signed on to the annexation plan.
