Tuscarawas and surrounding counties are under an extreme heat watch from Sunday at 11am to Wednesday at 8pm.
The National Weather Service says a prolonged heat wave is expected with recording setting temperature, creating hazardous conditions.
Heat index values are projected to range from 100 to 105 degrees.
With the increase for heat related illness, NWS encourages Ohioans to drink plenty of fluids, check on relatives and neighbors, and limit extended outdoor exposure.
The Tuscarawas County Emergency Management Agency has issued a local cooling center list, which includes local public library branches, the YMCA, Salvation Army, and the Tuscarawas County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.
