Daniel D. Carlisle, 94, of Goshen, passed away June 20, 2025 at the Gables of Canton following a period of declining health.
Born October 10, 1930, he was the son of the late James C. and Helen M. (Reymond) Carlisle.
After graduating from Midvale High School, Dan began working in the coal mines before later joining the former Union Camp. He dedicated 36 years to the chemical industry before retiring. Following his retirement, he remained active by owning and operating Carlisle Nursery, where he shared his gardening expertise with many homes throughout the community.
Dan was married to the late Bonnie L. (Meese) Carlisle, and together they were devoted members of the Community of Christ Church in New Philadelphia. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening, and in his earlier years, he served as a coach and umpire for Little League Baseball.
Dan leaves behind his sons, Steve (Barb) Carlisle and Duce (Sue) Carlisle; his grandchildren, Steve (Michele) Carlisle, Jr., Scott (Patty) Carlisle, Jamie Carlisle, and Kelsey (Ryan) Hill; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, June Crites, Joe Carlisle, Wanda Golder, Marge Levengood, and Linda Edie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Dan was preceded in passing by 4 siblings.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Brian Flood will officiate a service beginning at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
