A 36-year-old Newcomerstown man has been sentenced to 5 to 7 ½ years in prison and labeled a sex offender after pleading guilty to seven sexual and violent crimes involving a minor.

Christopher D. Young Jr. last month pleaded guilty to six felonies that included unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and strangulation, along with misdemeanor assault.

Tuscarawas County Prosecutor Ryan Styer says New Philadelphia police witnessed the alleged assault in Uhrichsville while on a lunch break, which led to further investigation by the Dennison Police Department and additional charges.

Judge Elizabeth Thomakos sentenced Young on June 12th. State records show Young is incarcerated and eligible for parole or release on January 12, 2030.
