First Town Day organizers this afternoon are putting the finishing touches on the festival in preparation for a noon opening on Thursday at Tuscora Park in New Philadelphia.
New festival committee chair Shalee Bloom was busy placing vendors along the midway at midday while longtime volunteer Dale Denham switched from program coordinator to jack-of-all trades to help get things set up.
The four-day lineup is packed with entertainment and activities, including the plate auction Thursday, the WTUZ and WJER sponsored Grand Parade on Friday, a slew of contests on Saturday, and the car show and talent show on Sunday. A full schedule is at firsttowndays.com. Denham says the fireworks on Saturday night promise to be spectacular.
The weather for First Town Days looks promising, with only a few clouds in the forecast and temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s.
