Local 4-H leaders are again expecting a strong showing from Tuscarawas County participants at the Ohio state fair now underway in Columbus.

4-H youth development educator Chris Kendle says about 160 kids from Tuscarawas County are going to compete with miscellaneous category projects such ranging from fishing to cake decorating.

Another 50 kids are showing livestock projects, after qualifying through judging at the local level.

Kendle says the kids with livestock projects include poultry, beef, sheep, hogs, dairy, and others.  Some of the animals will then be presented again at the Tuscarawas County fair in September.

Kendle says she’ll also spend about a week and a half at the fair helping out with a number of the events – and cheering along as her daughter shows sheep.
