A scholarship program that is a preliminary to the Miss Ohio and Miss America programs is accepting applications.
Miss Clayland is held annually at Claymont High School, in Uhrichsville, for contestants between the ages of 18 to 28.
Organizer Martha Campbell says the application deadline is September 2nd.
“We’re very excited that we’ll be crowning another Miss Clayland. It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a year ago since we crowned Olivia [Fosson], who fortunately when on to win the title of Miss Ohio.”
Campbell says normally the previous winner of Miss Clayland would return for the local pageant but that might not happen.
“We are very excited to have Olivia but there is one caveat is should she become Miss America a couple of weeks before our pageant we probably will not get to have her come back to Clayland.”
The first 12 completed applications will be accepted as contestants for the Miss Clayland 2026 title.
“We encourage everyone who is age eligible to competition in the competition. We would love to have some more young women from the Tuscarawas and surrounding areas be a part of this program. Everyone who does enter the program will receive a minimum of a $100 scholarship.”
Each applicant will be required to register with the Miss America Program. More details are at missohio.org.
