Buckeye Career Center has kicked off the new school year by celebrating the opening of its new medical training facility for students.
Governor Mike Dewine cut the ribbon on the 6-million-dollar facility Friday. He was joined by First Lady Fran Dewine, numerous state and local elected officials, and area school superintendents.
The project was funded with 2.8 million dollars out of 300 million dollars set aside by the state legislature to address waiting lists and expansion needs at career centers across the state. Dewine says it was well worth it.
Buckeye superintendent Bob Alsept thanked everyone who helped make it a reality.
Buckeye requested grants funds for the center in the fall of 2023. Ground was broken in September, and the facility is now open and educating students just under a year later.
