The man who New Philadelphia police say fled from a crash that killed his passenger early Saturday morning has waived a preliminary hearing in New Philadelphia municipal court.
A grand jury will now consider whether to indict 37-year-old Janesh Cabrera Vargas – who has been listed in court records as being from new philadelphia and virginia.
Police Chief Tessa Pohovey said he’s accused of being the driver of the dodge charger that crashed into a pole on South Broadway Saturday around 2 am.
Bond was continued at 50-thousand dollars for Cabrera Vargas, who remains in the Tuscarawas County jail on initial charges including vehicular manslaughter and OVI.
The passenger who died was 21-year-old Terron Henderson of New Philadelphia. Witnesses reportedly saw him hanging from the car’s window prior to the crash.
