The TUFF Bags program – or Tuscarawas United Feeding our Future – is back sending weekend meals home with food insecure children in Tuscarawas County for another school year.
Coordinator Lisa Walker says they start each new academic year by sending enrollment forms home with all of the students at partnering schools of Claymont, Dover, Indian Valley, Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas Central Catholic, and Tusky Valley Schools, as well as students at Buckeye Career Center, QDA, Star Alternative School, some home-School students in Strasburg, and the four Harcatus Learning Centers.
Walker says the students in the program remain anonymous. She only knows how many bags to provide for each building.
TUFF Bags delivered just over 80-thousand meal bags last school year.
They could always use more volunteers and donations. Checks can be sent to the United Way of Tuscarawas County, attention TUFF Bags.
