Dover’s mayor says crews are making some pretty good headway as they work to transform a former bank building into a new City Hall.
The city issued 3 million dollars in bonds about a year ago to pay for the purchase and renovation of the former First Federal Bank building about a block from the old City Hall on Wooster Avenue.
Mayor Shane Gunnoe says workers are done with interior demolition and are starting to put up walls and take care of the electrical and HVAC systems.
Once City Hall is finished, crews will begin renovating the old City Hall and other spaces into expansions of the police and fire stations.
Gunne says 11 employees and City Council will be based at the new City Hall, and the treasurer and auditor offices will be in the former Ohio Real Title building on the same property behind the bank.
City Council meetings will take place in the building’s basement. The current Council chambers will become a training area for safety forces.
