Dover’s Mayor says housing permit requests for the year are well above the norm.
Mayor Shane Gunnoe says building requests this year are at about five times the city’s average.
The in-progress Crimson Cove subdivision in north Dover has something to do with that, with nine permits to date and five more expected before the end of the year.
Gunnoe sees several possible reasons for the increase, noting the city hasn’t had a new large-scale subdivision in about 20 years.
Crimson Cove is expected to have 30 homes when it’s finished. The same development, Lawver Homes, also is planning to build 54 condos and 29 houses on 33 acres about a mile north of Crimson Cove.
