The Strasburg police department is planning to make another hire with student safety in mind.
Police chief Randy Haugh the department is currently accepting applications for the position of school resource officer.
He says anyone interested can check out the job’s qualifications and benefits listed on the department’s Facebook page and the village website.
Haugh says the resource officer would be there to quickly respond for any emergencies at school, but they’re also responsible for talking to the children and getting to know them.
Haugh says the school resource officer would also cover football and basketball games and other school events.
He’s hoping to have that position filled within the next few weeks.
