The Schaeffler manufacturing facility in north Dover reached a construction milestone this week and is on track for a spring completion date.
Dover Mayor Shane Gunnoe was on hand when the final beam was placed on the framework of the structure, at 320,000 square feet, will be bigger than the biggest Walmart in the U.S.
The plant will manufacture components for hybrid and electric vehicles, adding about 450 jobs over the next several years.
Gunnoe says the roof, walls, and concrete floors will take shape over the next few weeks.
He says the lack of rain this summer has put the project ahead of schedule with a goal of completion in April.
