The Friends of the Homeless are planning a dueling pianos fundraiser as Jack’s House of Hope homeless shelter nears an expected December opening.

Board President Reverend Joe Svancara says the Friends of the Homeless have raised 4.5 million dollars toward a 5.5 million dollar goal, mainly through donations from individuals, companies and foundations.

The Dueling Pianos and silent auction fundraiser will be Saturday, October 18th, at the Marilyn in New Philadelphia, with tickets at 80 dollars per couple or 50 dollars for one.

Tickets are available through Svancara, who is the pastor at the New Philadelphia First Presbyterian Church. His number is 440-396-4151. The new 20-thousand-square-foot shelter will have 31 rooms and is being built right behind the existing shelter at 211 East High Avenue.
