The city of Dover’s recent emphasis on pedestrian safety continues with a new pedestrian crossing signal on Wooster Avenue just north of downtown.
Safety Director Bob Everett says the city installed it after receiving complaints about drivers not stopping for people crossing the street.
It’s the latest in a series of city and Council actions targeting negligent drivers.
Dover over the past year or so has added digital speed warning signs on Wooster Avenue near the city park and Tuscarawas Avenue near the high school.
Officials have also increased the penalties for drivers who fail to stop for school buses, crossing guards and pedestrians.
There are also new city ordinances regulating electric bikes and scooters.
