The Big rivalry football game is Friday night at Crater Stadium in Dover but the battle is on at the Tuscarawas County YMCA.
That’s when Quaker and Crimson Tornado fans will compete to see which community can donate the most blood. The winner will be announced at Friday’s football game.
The 28th Annual Dover vs. New Philadelphia Blood Battle is at the Y from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Walk-ins are welcome but sign up can be done at vitalant.org/wjerbloodbattle. Blood donors should make sure they are healthy, have eaten a meal recently, and bring ID.
All those who give blood at the Blood Battle will receive a limited edition T-shirt and be entered for a chance to win a $10,000 gift card.
Vitalant says each donation has the potential to save multiple lives. Blood donations help patients experiencing cancer, trauma injuries, routine surgeries, and more.
