Contracts are being renewed for safety services and project updates are provided for the Village of Dennison.
At the latest meeting, Mayor Greg DiDonato says there are two 5-year contract renewals for fire protection and EMS. One is for Midvale.
“They’re at $16,500 and they have agreed to bump it to take there’s up to $20,000 [and it will end] at $21,500.”
The other contract is for Mill Township, who also agreed to an increase starting at $24,500.
DiDonato says a project in the 600 and 700 block of N. 1st Street, near the hospital, is taking shape for 2026. He notes the sidewalks are falling off a hill and work was held due to funding and then a gas line project.
“We’re going to put a new retainer wall, new sidewalks on the one side, the road will get repaved, and we have relocate the storm drain because of the retainer wall. Schedule to advertise in the spring and start in the summer. It’s a four month project but that is on track.”
Elsewhere, Dennison is facing an unexpected expense. DiDonato says in the municipal building basement there is a vent opening that needs immediate masonry repair. The overall cost could be upwards of $10,000.
