ODOT officials are hoping the upcoming winter is a little easier on them this time as they get set for the colder months.

Public information officer Lauren Borell compiled the stats to see just how busy they were last year.

She found that ODOT salt trucks in Tuscarawas County logged about 91-thousand miles more last year compared to the previous winter, resulting in 33-thousand more tons of salt being used as well.

This comes as the district 11 garage in new Philadelphia held its annual winter readiness event this week. mechanics performed 150-point inspection on the 20 trucks there, along with all the snow an ice equipment.  Borell says everything looks good.

District 11 is also fully stocked now with salt, with 15 tons available just in Tuscarawas County alone.
